Short-Sightedness

In case those reading my blog today didn’t know, I’ve been honored with 2 nominations for the Avi Choice Fashion Awards.  I’m going to begin this blog post by reminding people to go and vote for their favorites in everything to do with fashion.  The nominees are people who give their hearts and souls to make your Second Life a better one so please take a few minutes to vote.  Voting ends on December 1st at 3pm.   Vote Here

I’m very willing to admit that it would be wonderful to win at least one of the categories I’m nominated in (Favorite Female Fashion Model or Favorite Fashion Blog)  so I’m going to ask that if any of my readers haven’t voted yet, please go to the site and kindly think of me in those 2 categories when you do.

With all that in mind, I wish to tell you something that happened to me on Saturday night.  Sometimes after I’m done styling outfits for projects I’m working on, or for blog posts, and I have extra time, I head on over to my favorite club in SL to just chill –  Toby’s Juke Joint.   I love it here for many reasons plus the obvious – the music.   I can visit Toby’s totally incognito and I love that the most.  So Saturday night I stopped in after styling a few outfits and when I walked in, DJ Vali Rau was playing some great tunes and Piffy Difference Rau, who’s a hostess at Toby’s, exclaimed “OMG Linda,  I love your blog!”.  Imagine my surprise to see those words in local chat.  It took a moment for it to register that she was talking to me.  When it finally registered, I was so flattered.  I told Piffy that she made my night and she really did.   It’s nice to know that all the hard work we put into something is appreciated by others, isn’t it?

It’s such an honor to have been nominated this year for a few Avi Choice Fashion Awards, but when all is said and done, I’ve never done my best at modeling or blogging just so I’d win any award or win a contest. I did my best as an SL model because I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t.  I’ve also done my best because of people like Piffy who appreciate my blog and what I do and read it, especially when I probably write more than I should.  We’re all human, though, and it’s so easy to hop on the “I-want-to-win” train.  At the end of the day, I’ll just say that it’s simply very easy to lose sight of the real important things until you run into someone named Piffy Difference Rau who reminds you why you really do what you do.  Thanks Piffy!
